A Few 11th Hour Additions to the BOAW Lineup
We’re very excited to have a few last minute additions that I think some people will be excited about.
Exhibit A: Mimicking Birds
This Portland, OR trio recorded their debut album throughout 2009 in the home studio of Modest Mouse (and Ugly Casanova) frontman, Isaac Brock. This lovely record was produced by Isaac Brock & Clay Jones and it was released YESTERDAY (March 9th) on Glacial Pace.
Listen to the whole album here.
Exhibit B: Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band
I know what you’re asking – aren’t these guys a pretty edgy indie rock band? Why are they playing Birds on a Wire? Well – Birds on a Wire is all about excellent music & though our focus is on indie folk and roots music, we want to have a little something for everyone. And who better to scratch that NW rock & roll itch than Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band?!
Here’s the stunning music video that really got me excited about these guys:

Birds on a Wire welcomes Barton Carroll to the lineup!
I’m sure it doesn’t matter to you what Pitchfork or Pop Matterss thinks about Barton Carroll because, like us, you’re all about the music. That’s why we’re posting this awesome video for you. Barton’s been a hired gun in bands like Crooked Fingers, Dolorean, and Azure Ray and we’re delighted that on short notice he’s been willing to come out!

Chuckanut Drive (Stephen Ray Leslie & the Crooked Mile)
Chuckanut Drive’s been a staple underground country act in the Northwest for years and we at Birds on a Wire have been listening to them for years. They’re changing their name to Stephen Ray Leslie & the Crooked Mile, but they can’t fool us! Enjoy this Chuckanut Drive music video from 2007 and get excited!
